And Then The Cancer Fight Started….

There has been an overwhelming outpouring of care and concern and many people asking, “How can I help?” - so in answer, we created this site to help raise the funds that are so very crucial to help rehabilitate Pat and cover the mounting medical bills.  Below are two ways to contribute to Pat and Trish along with Pat’s story.  100% of proceeds go directly to Pat and Trish to help cover expenses during this time.

______________

As many of you know by now, our long-time friend and recently retired policeman of over 30 years, Pat McCoy, was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer.

What you may not know is that just a day before his chemo was to begin, Pat suffered a massive stroke that has left him unable to speak and unable to use his right arm among other challenges.

The stroke also postponed and changed his cancer treatment - the aggressive treatment once available, can not be used during his stroke recovery.

Pat and Trish have both been caretakers of our community with Pat serving the better part of his life, first in the Army and then with the Miami Township Police Department, and most recently with West Carrollton Police Department.  Pat retired from Miami Township Police Department in 2020 and is currently a transfer officer for West Carrollton Police Department.  He enjoys part-time security at the Dayton Dragons in the summer.  He also enjoys a flirt with his wife Trish, a toast with his friends and good outdoor patio fire with his dog, Geronimo.

Just recently (March 6th), Pat celebrated his 59th birthday from his hospital bed where he enjoyed a special salute given to him by several of his Brothers in Blue.  Right now is when Pat and Trish need us most, so we are reaching out to friends, family and supporters to help care for them through financial donation, meal dealivery (soon we will have a sign up for lawn mowing/chores) and through continued prayer.

The goal is for Pat to regain his strength, the power of speech and other faculties in order to begin chemo treatment as soon as possible. However, medical bills are mounting daily and at this time, Trish is not able to make ends meet.  Once Pat is released to go home, Trish will remain the primary care giver, severely reducing the amount of time she can contribute to her job.  Thank you to all who are able to contribute to Pat’s recovery journey - it is so greatly needed and even more greatly appreciated.

May God richly bless your lives.  Please continue to hold Pat and Trish up in your Prayers and on behalf of Pat, Trish and their families, we thank you for any and all the support you can give.  God Bless you All!

Why We Love Pat

Pat McCoy is a husband, a father, a brother, an Army Veteran, a retired Police Officer, a cartoonist and a friend.

Pat loves people.  He loves animals.  He loves a good Irish Whiskey and a good laugh.

In February, Pat found out he had pancreatic cancer.  He was back in the hospital due to complications from his pre-chemo testing and port.  He spent some additional time in the hospital, but was finally able to go home just a day before chemo was to begin.  That night, Pat suffered a stroke.

Pat has been in the hospital since the stroke, and continues to fight valiantly. While in the hospital, one of Pat’s life long dreams was able to be realized - his book of cartoons written about his life - mainly life with Trish - has been published!  “And Then The Fight Started” illustrated by Pat McCoy is on sale now. There are a limited number of first run books available. Those will be Limited Edition, numbered, hard bound coffee table books. A link to purchase a copy is here on the website. (Don’t wait!  The Limited Edition books go to print soon - pre-order to secure yours!)

Today, his wife Trish is working diligently to bring I’m home, with the help of Hospice, to be surrounded by his friends and family.
